SIMPLY Inspirational
We have been privileged to chat with some inspirational people on Reports from Arbroath - inspirational in that they have reached the top of their sporting tree but remained great, humble, grounded people.
This week’s guest takes ‘inspirational’ to another level.
In 2006, Stine Giles was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Her treatment was successful. Six years later came two more tumours. Again, they were successfully treated.
Stine, supported every step of the way by husband Ashley, had the strength to deal with the colossal mental, physical and psychological challenges of a cancer diagnosis and, blessed by brilliant medical support, made a good recovery - and vowed to give back.
And how she has given back. The Giles Trust Brain Tumour Fund, which this year reaches its tenth anniversary, has raised more than £1,500,000 for research into brain tumours and support for those affected by them. The Trust’s financial impact, including fully funding its own full-time research nurse, is colossal, but its impact far transcends finance. It’s work is constantly evolving and expanding to support all those involved - from those most in need of the best possible support to those striving night and day to provide it.
As Stine tells Reports from Arbroath, she could not have achieved this alone. Stine and Ash have been brilliantly backed by family, friends and sponsors, every one of which has made a material difference to the lives of those facing one of the biggest challenges that life can bring. To every one of those supporters… a heartfelt thank you - you are wonderful. To anyone previously unaware of the Giles Trust Brain Tumour Fund, please listen to Stine’s story - and get involved. The Trust has achieved much but there is so much more to do yet.
Please come and join this fantastic team. It is a true collective effort. Kudos to all involved.
But none of it would have happened without the inspirational Stine Giles.
