inspiring by example

These are exciting times for women's cricket and women in and around sport generally. It was a pleasure to chat to Georgia Davis and Em Marshall about the wealth of opportunities opening up for women in sport and sports media - they are well-qualified to talk about the subject.

Georgia has made the unlikely transition from police officer to professional cricketer and later this month will captain Warwickshire in the Women’s Vitality Blast Finals Day at The Oval. Em left the University of Birmingham with a planning degree and is fully qualified to design car parks, but now accompanies England's women's team around the world as a social media content producer.

From their warm, engaging and enlightening chat with Reports from Arbroath, the message is clear: for any young woman with the necessary passion, talent, work-ethic and determination, the barriers to a career in sport and associated media are coming down.

Georgia, Em...many thanks for your time. You are exactly the examples and role models needed to inspire those that wish to follow in your footsteps.
